A6GF1 / A6MF1 / A8LF1 Torque Converter
Hyundai-Kia’s in-house 6-speed (A6GF1 / A6MF1 / A6LF1) and 8-speed (A8LF1) automatics. The A6GF1 is the smallest case, used on Elantra / i30 / Tucson; A6MF1 is the larger-torque variant on Sonata / Santa Fe; A8LF1 is the 8-speed found in Santa Fe DM/TM and Azera. Older F4A41/F4A42 4-speed autos are still common on legacy Accent, Sonata and Trajet.

D7UF1 7-Speed DCT
Hyundai’s in-house dry-clutch 7-speed DCT (D7UF1). Found in Veloster, Tucson 1.6 T-GDi, i30 N-Line and Elantra Sport. Famous for crisp shifts but the mechatronic / clutch-pack module is the common failure point — we stock the mechatronic separately.

Intelligent Variable Transmission
Hyundai’s belt-driven continuously variable transmission, branded IVT. Replaces the 6-speed automatic on the modern Kappa-engined i20, Venue and Creta. Smooth and efficient but service-sensitive — fluid changes every 60,000 km matter.

M5BF2 / M6CF1 / H100 5-Speed
The 5-speed M5BF2 covers small cars (i10, i20, Atos, Accent). The 6-speed M6CF1 is fitted to Elantra, i30 and Tucson manuals. The robust H100 5-speed commercial unit is shared across the H100 Porter bakkie and H1 / iLoad panel van — a high-volume line for South African delivery and conversion businesses.

When the driveline has had a hard life
Most failed Hyundai automatics arrive after a single overheating event — a slipping A6GF1 in a Tucson can usually be saved with a fresh torque converter rather than a full unit. But when a Theta II 2.4 has dropped a rod into the bell-housing or a D4CB CRDi has wrecked the input shaft, a donor engine package from one vehicle ends up cheaper than two separate jobs. For top-end damage from a snapped cambelt — common on the older Beta and Alpha engines — quote our head + block combo instead of swapping the whole engine.
